BSNY never dissapoints.....

But this post had me laughing harder than usual. Especially when he plays out the story of the Outlaw.
I'm going to check out some Mtn. bikes today after work. I'm gonna go right before I pick up G from the airport. I mentioned to her that I was going to go bike shopping, just to look and check out my options. She replied with "Make sure you bring your new bike to the airport." Does that give me the green light, or is she being MN nice?

The good time are killin me...

Scenes from the wedding dance floor. Jeff can bring it like no other. This is when things really started heating up.

Which of course led to Jeff kicking it up a notch and dancing Chippendale style with my Mom. Good times. If you look close in the background to the left, Scott is getting close to reach around status with his lady friend. I bet the night ended well!

In other news, well it may not news to some of you, G just got a big promotion at work. The thing is that her only client now is based in Columbus, OH. She flies out like every Sunday night and doesn't get back till later in the week, usually Thursday night. Needless to say there is a strong push to move back to Ohio. I applied with the OH branch of the agency that I work for, but they selected another candidate. So if you know of jobs for environmental economists in the Columbus Metro Area....

Another Bike?

So with the first year of Cyclocross over for me, I have some reflections and foresight. We'll start with reflections.
1. That shit is hard.
2. CX is really, really fun.
3. If you want to feel like you are part of a cycling community, start Cross racing.
4. That shit is really hard.

To get ready for the season I started riding my SS Mtn. bike at the river bottoms. It had been years since I rode in the dirt, and before committing to a CX bike I wanted to see if I still liked the idea of it. I was hooked again after the first ride. So I bought a used Alan CX bike and decided to try CX. I only raced 3 times this year, but it was a really busy fall. You know the whole wedding planning thing. Anyway, I am super glad I decide to get the bike and try it. I am really looking forward to next season as I have a better idea of what to expect. Which leads me to the foresight.

1. Next season CX races will be really hard.
2. This season amplified my interest in racing X-terra next year.
3. The intensity of the CX racing has helped me be able to dig deeper into the hurt locker than ever before, so that should help this coming triathlon season.
4. No matter what type of racing you do, if you are really racing, its gonna be hard.

So now that I've decided to give X-terra a go next season, I need a bike. The biggest decision I need to make is whether I want a 26'' wheeled bike or the 29''. For those that aren't part of the bike crowd the 26'' wheels are your typical Mtn. bike wheels, the 29'' wheels are the same size as a road or CX bike. Anyway, after talking to one Mtn. biker they recommended the 26'' wheels based on my height and build (5'7'' and ~160 lbs). Do you have an opinion? If so, leave a comment. I'm gonna test ride some bikes next week, including a 29'er. Right now I'm looking at the Salsa "Moto Rapido".

Here ya go Ray....

Something new.....

DKT at 70.3 got a bunk drafting penalty. Not sure if you/anyone read his blog/webpage or not. From first hand information, out of the water thinhgs were looking great. On to the bike David lead for a good while. A "chase" group caught and passed him. David freewheeled and was out of the draft zone in his mind, but was assessed a drafting penalty. David was setting up all season for this race, then the mat was pulled out from under him for a bogus call. I think he could have made podium if he had not been penalised and decided to finish the race. I can only imagine how hard it would have been to bust ass for the 13.1 miles after being heartbroken. I dont blame him for protesting and not finishing, though would have liked to have seen him cross the line. I cant imagine working all season for one race (out of 25 btw) and the recording a DNF. Next season will be fun to watch again.

Other news, I'm married now. Feels the same as life before the legal commitment. Looking forward to the honeymoon and free gifts though.

Ray, I'm looking forward to toeing the line with you on Saturday. Wear a Browns jersey, the boys in Cleveland need some love after the heartbreaker last weekend. Are you heading to TH on thursday night. T3 and I need some cover on the ride home. Be sure to bring the 9mm.
