Work Comes Full Circle

So the famous helicopter game has made its way back into my work day. When things get really slow you need something to help you get through the day. It’s been over a year and a half so I'm still a little rusty, but still managed to score a 1237 today. I couldn’t figure out how to save the screenshot as an image so that I could paste here. You'll just have to take my word for it.

Its effing cold, but hey they say the only thing that separates Minneapolis and the Arctic Circle is a barbwire fence. Or some shit like that. I realized that if you spend all of your time being antisocial, you have less and less to write about. I'm blaming it on the weather.

Happiness is....

...a warm soft pillow. I've never heard anyone say that until today. Being totally run down right now, it made me want to go home right now. After a long stretch of workouts without a day off, I have a workout to look forward today. Check it out;

Actively focus on recovery today:
1) stay off of legs all you can,
2) watch nutrition closely (healthy carbs, lean protein, and good fats),
3) stretch, and
4) drink plenty of fluids.
Other common recovery aids include massage, napping, elevating legs, floating in water, and listening to music.

Done and Done.

Pictures, Finally

This dude is in my wedding. I'll warn the photographer.

G the night before the OSU vs. Michigan Game. Pic shows how much we were made for each other.

Me, Brett, Stucke and Brown Outside the Shoe

Me and Putnam after the win. You might not be able to tell but I've had about two cases of beer by now.
Nothing like a little late night snack. Reaping the rewards of my delivery skills.

Throw your scales away..

If they claim to measure body fat percentage. Since we've had ours it had repeatedly said that my BF% was 20-23%. This week it was at its lowest 20%. I just back from the Y where they measured it with calipers. Results say my BF% is 9.1. My goal was to have it under 10%. Looks like I just need to maintain now. What a great way to start the weekend!

Yep I'm still breathing

The Holidays are over and the New Year is here. I don’t really have anything to say but thought I should get something up here as an update. I had big plans for putting together a second Christmas Mix CD this year to give to my friends along with a six pack of my Coffee Stout. I got a late start on the mix, so it kinda fell to the wayside. I just felt like I was rushing to put songs on it and never got a real feel for the mix as a whole. I’m still working on it. So if you got a CD last year you can expect volume 2, it just won’t be an actual Christmas gift this year. BTW – LCD Soundsystem has some new stuff out and it sounds great. I don’t think the album will be out for while though.

I used G’s iPod while lifting the other day. I think it finally sold me on the idea of getting a portable music player. I’m torn between the Zune and the Gigabeat. The thing that draws me to these two is the online music service that they have. For $10 a month you can download whatever music you want onto the device. The files are protected, so you can’t burn them to disc, but there are ways around it. If iPod offered a similar service I would get the 8 gig nano in a second. I like the smaller size in the nano, but love the idea of unlimited access to music.

The training is going pretty good. I had a pretty slack week during the Christmas break, but am now back at full go. I started to keep track of mileage for the first time. That stuff adds up really fast. Every time I get a new pair of running shoes I say that I’ll keep up on the mileage to let me know when I’m getting close to the end of their lives. Actually doing it now I can see that in the past I really underestimated the timeline. No wonder I would eventually develop shin splints of some other type of ailment.

G and I are getting married at the end of October, so over the holiday break we started the biggest loser challenge; her family against mine. I hope everyone sticks to it. When you have a big event to motivate yourself it makes things easier. Besides, once you get into the lifestyle, you feel and look great. So families if you are reading this make sure you get to the gym today (or workout somehow). We had our initial weigh in on Tuesday the 2nd. The first weigh in for calculating % weight loss is next Tuesday. I’ll go ahead and make mine public here. I don’t need to lose too much weight. I primarily want to lower my body fat %. So after the holiday slacking and feasting I weighed in at 164.4. I’d like to be around 155-8 with around 10% body fat or less. I am going to the Y at lunch to get my body fat calculated with a calipers. I’ve never done that before so I have no idea if my goal is reasonable. I’ll post the findings later.

Training Stats (1 Month in)
Swim – 4.7 miles
Bike – 103
Run - 51

Oh yeah, Louie is fine. That dog has an iron stomach. He never even reacted to the laxative the vet. gave him. I guess he had an early start at strenghtening his gut when he ate Tylers phone as a puppy. Thanks Tyler, we all owe you one. If I ever see you again I'll get you some more drinks.
