I’m nervous…

So on Tuesday night I bought a new saddle on Ebay. I had been eyeing this thing since I first saw it in a magazine. The problem was it was too much money, so I turned to Ebay. I found some for sale, only they weren’t the exact model I was looking for. The saddle is made out of magnesium with titanium rails. Supposedly it’s like a carbon saddle at a lesser cost. The thing weighs in at around 160 grams. You can check it out here.

The one that I wanted had no cover (just like on the website) so it was shiny magnesium in your face, totally freakin tits. The only ones I could find on Ebay had a traditional leather cover so the shiny was not visible, though the function should remain unchanged. I got a great deal on it, less than $40 (the covered model retails for around $140). The dude selling it had great feedback and was a power seller so I felt great about it. To this day I have yet to have a bad experience on Ebay, selling or buying. Well its Friday now and I haven’t heard a peep from the seller. The only thing I have going for me is that he has yet to claim the payment from paypal. I’ve got my fingers crossed.

This weekend we are going to get out and see some of the leaves. I think we are going to head to Stillwater Saturday morning for coffee and then go hiking somewhere a little farther north. The forecast shows great weather. The last few days were great in the evening. On Monday I came home and played with the dog in the backyard for a while. I sat in the sun and had a beer before mowing the lawn. Wow, I was a total old man. I have to say getting a slight buzz before taking care of the yard work made for a much more enjoyable experience. It made for some deep thoughts (i.e. Jack Handy) that were pretty entertaining.

Give us the money Lebowski

This is stupid. If anyone has a question, please submit them to me and I will answer them for free. Wait a minute, scratch that. You're already on the internet, look it up yourself you lazy bastard.

I just found out that my office made some financial commitments to local groups for a water quality trading and a carbon sequestration project. They never asked for my input. Did I delete the part of my resume that detailed 4 years of experience in these fields? Oh well, what am I worried about? I'm sure the monies were appropriated in the most cost effective way. Any one could figure that out, who needs an economist?

Point of Clarification

So just to let everyone know, I really enjoy riding bikes with the people that I have come to know in Mpls. I actually like riding with everyone here better than the group I used to ride with in NC. Besides this place has a bike culture like no place I have ever been in my life. What I was getting at is that as we were leaving NC to head home, I realized that we were heading into the cold part of the year. It made the sunny skies and warm temperatures seem even more inviting. Besides I have mental problems, I'm never happy in the here and now. Yesterday was better than today and I can't wait for tomorrow. That just how Yeti's roll.

Dancing in the green(er) grass

We had a three day weekend, so today is a little rough back at work. Thursday night we flew to North Carolina for a wedding and to hang out with friends. After the expected delay offered to us by NWA, we got into Chapel Hill around 11:00 pm. It made for a short night, but that was good to help get the day started on Friday. The weather was awesome so G and I headed to Weaver Street for breakfast and people watching. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Weaver Street it is a Co-Op in Carrboro that has a great hot bar and a really big area for people to hang out and eat, dance, play with their dogs, hula-hoop, and basically whatever else the hippies feel like. We spent a few hours there and then headed to the LBS to rent some bikes. After getting my sweet new ride I took of for lap around Chapel Hill and then headed to the Disc Golf Course for a round. Although the weather was great it’s never as fun playing by yourself as it is with friends. After totally throwing my arm out I headed back to Weaver Street for some lunch and to meet up with Jeff and G. Friday night was totally balls to the wall that started out with Mexican and pitchers of strong Rita’s, and ended with late night shots, cheese fries, and wings.

The wedding was pretty good on Saturday. G ran into a lot of people from grad. School and I ran into a lot of Makers Mark. There was no embarrassing dancing, well at least coming from me or G. There was however plenty to be watched. We finished the night back at Jeffs with some quality Playstation time. Sunday was relaxation involving Weaver Street, lounging in the shade, and then time at the airport. All in all it was a great trip.

After you move away from an area that you had spent a significant amount of time in, its always nice to go back and visit. This trip was really nice because we hadn’t been back to NC in a while, we had good friends to spend the entire time with, and the weather was perfect. Whenever you get those three things in combination its always easy to second guess your decision to leave. If you add in to the equation that you may not be the happiest with some part of your new situation (not liking your job) it is easy to think the grass is greener in the place you left. G and I are finally to the point in our new life here in Mpls. that we are establishing friendships and starting to feel at home. Do trips like this past weekend make it harder to see the light or is it just enforcing/highlighting the great friendship you have made in you life? I think it may be the latter, but the idea of moving back to an area where you are able to ride outdoors year round with good friends was pretty enticing this weekend.
